On July 10, the Crimean Tatar national movement veteran Zeytulla Ibraimov died at the age of 80 in Yukhary-Karalez (Zalesnoye) village near Bakhchisaray.

Zeytulla Ibraimov was born in 1938 in Cherkez-Kermen village near Bakhchisaray. In 1944 he was deported. In the late 1950s he joined the Crimean Tatar national movement.

Zeytulla Ibraimov was a figurant of the high-profile court case in 1967. It was called the “trial of twelve”, as twelve Crimean Tatar activists were then convicted. They were detained during a rally in Navoi city. People demanded Crimean Tatars’ return to their homeland. Afterwards, Zeytulla Ibraimov was accused of organizing mass riots and resisting the authorities, for which he was sentenced for three years.

In 1988 he returned to Crimea and lived in Yuhary-Karalez (Zalesnoye) village near Bakhchisaray. A man was buried at the Muslim cemetery in his village.
