The Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea considers inexpedient the project of equipping the security checkpoints at the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Crimea, where there are planned to build the service centers, Center for Delivery of Administrative Services (CDAS), a bus station, as well as the museum of occupation and the chapel.

First Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea, Izet Gdanov commented to ATR TV channel.

«The Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea did not participate either in this project development or approval. I also expressed the Mission’s opinion regarding the project inexpediency both from the political and practical points of view. It is not a ghetto for Crimeans to close them in that building, but let them go to Ukraine’s mainland,» Izet Gdanov said.

He has noted that the opening of the Centers for Delivery of Administrative Services (CDAS) and the bus station is important, but it needed to be built closer to the occupied Crimea than at the checkpoints.

«We are working with the State Migration Service and local authorities to open the Centers for Delivery of Administrative Services exactly at areas closer to the temporarily occupied Crimea. Concerning the passenger transportation organization, there are some developments. There is a need to build a bus station close to Crimea. After deoccupation, all this will remain for people. Meanwhile, constructing some objects on the road, from a political point of view, is a step towards recognizing Crimean occupation. Therefore, it is categorically inappropriate,» he added.

Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea Borys Babin commenting to ATR TV channel added that the checkpoint should be arranged more comfortable. There should be a medical staff, heating rooms, equipped roads, but any museum of occupation and the Center for Delivery of Administrative Services must not be constructed.

The Crimean Tatars’ Mejlis head Refat Chubarov considers that it is necessary to revise once again the efficiency of using the money allocated by the Ukrainian government to arrange Chongar and Kalanchak checkpoints.

«Any serious facilities (at the checkpoints - ATR) from the point of view of those who live in Crimea will be perceived as cutting them off. The main thing is here the functions which must be performed at the checkpoints, and without which they simply would not exist, such as people transporting, moving, registration of services. I think that we must proceed from this. The government has allocated money. I believe we can in due course once again in Kiev consider their effective use from the functional qualities introduced for the checkpoints,» he said.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allocated almost 106 million hryvnia to arrange Chongar and Kalanchak checkpoints. They want to equip the service centers, Center for Delivery of Administrative Services, the bus station, as well as the museum of occupation and the chapel at the checkpoints.
