Invaders excavated an old Muslim cemetery near Bakhchisaray for highway constructing

The Russian archaeologists excavated the ancient Muslim cemetery Kyrk-Azizler graves near Bakhchisaray in Crimea for constructing the Tavrida highway.

Invaders intend to rebury some human remains and some others to send for research. Currently, archaeologists are already finishing working at the old cemetery. As the Vesti.Krym TV channel, near the cemetery, archaeologists also discovered the remains of an ancient settlement, such as dishes, attires and other household items.

«The most interesting finding is an ivory chess piece,» archeologist from the Novgorod region, Nikolai Zakharov says.

After researching, the Tavrida highway construction will begin at this place. About 300 human remains the invaders will send to the Bakhchisaray Museum.

Earlier, ATR TV channel informed about the Crimean authorities’ desire to build the Taurida highway through the ancient Muslim cemetery Kyrk-Azizler near Bakhchisaray.

The Kyrk-Azizler cemetery is located in the western part of Bakhchisaray suburb. Since the beginning of XIVth century and until the middle of XXth century there were hundreds of monuments. In the 1920s, several tombstones were transported to the Bakhchisaray Museum, some of which stored in the Khan cemetery in the palace.

As it is known, the occupiers are building the Tavrida highway across the entire peninsula. Hundreds of trees have already been cut down and some lands have been withdrawn for its construction. According to the project, Tavrida covers ten districts and city councils, such as Kerch, the Leninsky district, Feodosiya, the Kirovsky district, Sudak, the Belogorsky district, the Simferopol district, Simferopol and the Bakhchisaray district.
