Criminal case against Ismail Ramazanov is dismissed in Crimea

The criminal case under Article 222 (Part 1) of the Criminal Code (on illegal acquisition and storage of ammunition) against the Crimean Tatar Ismail Ramazanova was closed in Crimea.

The Russian lawyer Pavel Chikov announced it.

«Upon the absence of corpus delicti, the criminal case on the ammunition storage against the Crimean Tatar activist Ismail Ramazanov was dismissed. He stated the security forces plated patrons on him during a search,» wrote Chikov on Facebook.

The decree states that the investigation did not receive «any objective data on possessing of 24 patrons to Ramazanov which were seized on January 23, 2018 during the search». Criminal case under Art. 222 (Part 1) of the Criminal Code (on illegal acquisition and storage of ammunition) was terminated.

However, criminal case under Article 282 of the Criminal Code (incitement of hatred and enmity, as well as the humiliation of human dignity) left against Ramazanov.

In August 2018, the 534 Russian Military Investigation Department deputy head canceled his refusal to initiate a criminal case on tortures over Ismail Ramazanov.

On 12 July 2018, the court did not extend the detention to Ismail Ramazanov. On July 16, a man was released from the custody on bail. Later it appeared that Ramazanov’s case was returned for additional investigation.

As you know, regular searches were conducted in Crimea on January 23, 2018. Consequently, the Crimean Tatar Ismail Ramazanov was arrested and accused of propaganda and extremist statements. The next day a man announced during the hearing at the Crimean Supreme Court that the Russian security forces had beaten him.
