The Russian FSS detained one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Crimea

The FSS conducted searches among people in Dzhankoy, who are suspected of participating in the religious organization Jehovah’s Witnesses banned in the Russian Federation.

Radio Freedom informed about it.

During the rummages, the security forces detained Jehovah’s Witness regional ex-head Sergey Filatov. This group was registered in 2015, but abolished in 2017 after Russia’s prohibition on Jehovah’s Witnesses activities.

The Vesti Krym TV channel being subordinated to invaders published a plot about searches in Dzhankoy yesterday. According to them, searches were conducted at about 30 addresses in Dzhankoy, and security service opened a criminal case against the detainee Filatov on extremism.

In 2017, the Supreme Court of Russia awarded a judgment recognizing Jehovah’s Witnesses Management Center as an extremist organization.
