The Ukrainian Human Rights Commissioner Lyudmila Denisova demanded from the Russian Ombudsman to provide official information about the Ukrainian political prisoner and film director Oleg Sentsov’s health state.

She wrote that on Facebook.

«Concerning Oleg Sentsov’s lawyer Dmitry Dinze’s report on his client’s health deterioration, namely “organic damage to heart, liver and kidneys”, I appealed to the Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatiana Moskalkova and Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights Mikhail Fedotov,» wrote the Ukrainian Ombudsman.

Denisova requested to immediately provide comprehensive official information on Oleg Sentsov’s health state.

Earlier, the political prisoner’s lawyer Dmitry Dinze said that after the hunger strike, Sentsov had found organic damage to the heart, liver and kidneys.

The Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov was detained by Russian security officials in Crimea on May 11, 2014. He was accused of preparing terrorist attacks on the peninsula during the Russian occupation and possession of weapons and explosives.

On August 25, 2015, Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in a strict regime colony. He was transferred to a colony in Labytnangi.

In May 2018, Sentsov went on a hunger strike, demanding the release of all Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia. However, on October 6, he was forced to stop it due to the fact that he was prescribed forced feeding.

Whithin 145 days of hunger strike, he lost 20 kg of weight, his kidneys and liver began to hurt, and coronary heart disease also started.
