Daughter of the deputy chairman of Crimean Tatars' self-governing body − the Mejlis Ilmi Umerov – Ayshe shared about the confinement conditions in the Simferopol city psychiatric clinic.

«Hospital unit # 9 is a place for relatively peaceful patients (commonly for men) and those who aren’t arrested and aimed to pass forensic psychiatric examination. It is a closed yard with gates and the gates are locked. Whereas the main floor is being repaired, most patients are in halls and directly outside (under a hovel). As far as I know, my father is on the second floor and not allowed to be visited. He has to be alone in a ward», Ayshe wrote on Facebook.

Umerova has informed that for now all meetings are forbidden on order of the investigating officer.

«They permitted to bring food twice a day for now (but accepted food list is strictly limited). The cell phone was eliminated by doctors. There is no connection with him therefore I hope the problem with his visiting will be solved for better. 28 days… belts, shoe laces are forbidden, even shorts string was pulled out, even spoons are forbidden… He is allowed eating in a separate room only. Everything is of common use on a floor – shower, toilet and wash-basin. You can’t bring anything to the ward, all things are left and stored at the keeper room», Ayshe told.

Ayshe Umerova is also worried because her father is forbidden to keep his medicines.

«And the most disgusting thing is a situation with remedies: they forbade to have them on. Everything is stored at nursery room at the ground floor. Moreover, they said their doctors are to choose medicine to take or not. Within his long-lasting diseases such as Parkinson disease III grade, hypertonia and diabetes he takes some remedies regularly for years and can’t stop doing that. We are too worried about his health because week ago he was hospitalized from a courtroom with a preinfarction syndrome and hypertonia which doctors managed to stabilize. His health is foremost for us but having no contacts with him we aren’t sure he feels all right. When we were leaving they had to call for a cardiologist and a neurologist for consultation. That is all for now. I’ll keep you updated about any changes», Ayshe wrote.

Court in Russia-annexed Crimea on August 11 has ruled that a noted Crimean Tatar activist, Ilmi Umerov, must be placed in a psychiatric clinic for examination.

Umerov, 59, deputy chairman of Crimean Tatars' self-governing body − the Mejlis − was charged with separatism in May after he made public statements against the annexation of Ukraine's Crimea by Russia.

Umerov was allowed to stay home during investigations into his case.

The Moscow-based Memorial human rights center has called the case against Umerov «illegal and politically motivated».
