On Thursday, November 3, the lawyer Emil Kurbedinov informed about the commission involuntary psychiatric expert assessment of detainees involved in the case «Hizb ut-Tahrir».

«My client, Vadim SIRUK was submitted reviewing a FSS investigator’s commission involuntary stationary psychiatric expert assessment of six Muslim Crimean Tatars including Vadim as well. All six of them are the detainees in the case «Hizb ut-Tahrir» , six detainees from Yalta (Yalta, Alushta, Krasnokamenka), Muslim Aliyev, Vadim Siruk, Ever Bekirov, Emir-Usein Kuku, Refat Alimov, and Arsen Dzhepparov,» Kurbedinov wrote on Facebook.

According to the lawyer, this decision was caused with the refusal of the Crimean Tatar detainees from the psychiatric examination which they justified as the solidarity with the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Ilmi Umerov.

«Specified detainees’ attitude is explained simply, that it is a sign of solidarity with Ilmi Umerov. They also believe that there is no any legal basis to carry out them any psychiatric examination, and it is done only for hedging an investigation. These investigators’ actions humiliate their honor and reputation; within passing the expert assessment they refuse to answer questions relating to the case, thus they are prescribed to pass involuntary stationary psychiatric expert examination with placement into the psychiatric hospital», Kurbedinov informed.

The day before the lawyer Edem Semedlyaev announced that there will be carried out the inclusive stationary psychiatric examination toward the Muslims involved into the case «Hizb ut-Tahrir»:

«As you remember, a court scheduled the stationary psychiatric examination in a hospital to Ilmi Umerov. The same I was summoned today to appear in the detention center where I was introduced to the results of a psychiatric examination of guys from Yalta, the so-called case «Hizb ut-Tahrir». Guys supporting Ilmi Umerov refused to pass the stationary psychiatric assessment. In return the investigator issued them to pass involuntary stationary psychiatric expert examination. We consider this as a pressure on the guys because a punitive medicine has always been used as a pressure method on the detainees. And we assume the same measure «will be applied to all six guys in the case».

To remind some facts, in spite of the poor state of health, particularly passed heavy heart surgery and diabetes, the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Ilmi Umerov was forcibly held for 3 weeks in a psychiatric hospital. On September 7, Ilmi Umerov was released. Now he is at home in Bakhchisaray being placed under house arrest.
