The so-called «judge» of the Central District Court in Simferopol dismissed the petition to change the restrictive measures to Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhi.

On Friday, November 11, there is held a hearing of the «case» on 26 February toward Degermendzhi and Asanov. According to the lawyer Edem Semedlyaev, they considered two applications. The one is about changing the restrictive measures to persons involved into the «case» and the other is to bring defenders to the «case». «Court» rejected both two petitions.

«The lawyer of Mustafa Degermendzhi had filed a petition to change the restrictive measure to softer one. The judge rejected the application. Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhi also filed a petition to attract defenders alongside with the lawyer. The prosecutor did not object to involve the defenders, but the court considered the petition inappropriate and dismissed it», Semedlyaev said in his video.

The lawyer also told about another ways of pressure and attempts to prevent the protection of the accused people as the lawyer Omelchenko who represents the interests of Eskender Emirvaliev and has been issued a special court ruling (imposed by the court in case of law violation by lawyer):

«We estimate it as a pressure on all lawyers. So the judge wants somehow to discipline or put in a definite position to make lawyers behave «correctly».

The next court hearing is scheduled on November 16, but as the lawyer Edem Semedlyaev said, the «case» consideration may be delayed because of the absence of some lawyers:

«Unfortunately, a number of lawyers informed that they couldn’t participate in the process that day because of relation to other cases in other trials».

To remind some facts, on 20 July, 2016 the so-called Kievskiy District Court in Simferopol divided the case of «February 26». Akhtem Chiygoz is now judged separately from the other defendants, Ali Asanov and Mustafa Degermendzhi, and the rest as Eskender Kantemirov, Eskender Emirvaliev and Arsen Unusov left free. They face prison for organizing a rally nearby the Supreme Council of Crimea on 26 February, 2014, meanwhile Chiygoz as the main accused person may be awarded for 10 years of imprisonment. The occupation authorities of the peninsula accuse the Crimean Tatars only. The victims are defined as the so-called representatives of the Crimean self-defense group.
