The threat of a marginal Russian aggression comes not only from the Eastern Ukraine, but also from the north, southwest and temporarily occupied Crimea where the Russian Federation has considered its offensive capabilities.

The chief of the General Staff, Viktor Muzhenko said in an interview to Ukrinform.

«The threat to Ukraine comes from everywhere in particular the Russian troops are located. It is not only the East. We expect the impact of the Russian groups from the north, west and south, from Crimea, where the Russian Federation has considered its offensive potential», said Muzhenko.

He added that the General Staff are aware of the real-time military threats and calculate the possible scenarios in the case of the marginal Russian aggression.

«These scenarios are practiced during the military training exercises, we learn to mobile and flexible defense concentrating our efforts on the most dangerous «directions», said the chief of the General Staff.

Muzhenko also noted that the situation in the army today fundamentally differs from the one that was at the beginning of the armed the Russian Federation aggression.

«The national military capability of the AFU is far higher and forces are trained, provided and equipped with modern weapons and communication, they got a real combat experience. In addition, there are in Ukraine now almost 100 thousand army reservists of the operational reserve. They are soldiers and officers with a military experience. Also, there are forming the territorial defense units that will be in constant readiness to resist in case of an enemy’s attack. All these measures in combination make the Russian aggression meaningless», said Muzhenko.

As it is known, the General Staff of Armed Forces of Ukraine has formed 4 battalions according to NATO standards.
