On Tuesday, March 28, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the occupied Crimea had summoned the lawyer Emil Kurbedinov to the investigator. The pre-investigation check on the divulging results of preliminary investigation is conducted against him.

As the lawyer Emil Kurbedinov told the NGO «Krym-SOS», he associated it with his professional activities.

«Of course, I associate it with my activities and numerous speeches on public venues. My last speech recently was in the European Parliament where Bekir Degermendzhi, Mustafa Degermendzhi’s father, and Umer Ibrahimov, kidnapped Ervin Ibragimov’s father, talked about their sons. I spoke in general about the situation in Crimea and the circumstances of some criminal cases», the lawyer explained and noted that it wasn’t known what preliminary investigation information illegally divulged by him would be discussed during his meeting with the investigator.

Kurbedinov is assured that actions of special services of the Russian Federation are an additional pressure on lawyers. He intends to apply to the Crimean Bar Association.

To remind some facts, Kurbedinov was detained on February 26 in Bakhchisaray while trying to come to the Crimean Tatar Seyran Saliev where the FSB officers made a search. Later, lawyer’s house and office was searched also. On the same day, Kurbedinov was arrested for «public propaganda of extremism» because of his 4-year-old ago post in a social network. He was «sentenced» to 10 days of administrative arrest. During his imprisonment in Simferopol pre-detention facility in Crimea there passed several hearings on his clients’ cases where they were illegally extended the terms of detention.

Kurbedinov associates his arrest with his lawyer activity and regards it as pressure on him by the special services in the occupied Crimea.

After his release the lawyer stated that he would not leave work to protect political prisoners in Crimea, and moreover he was ready to react on the lawlessness of the special services against him and his clients.

The special services of the Russian Federation on the peninsula are pressing a defender of convicts in politically motivated cases in Crimea, the lawyer Nikolai Polozov.

Several pre-investigation checks have already been conducted against him, and recently the court has removed Polozov from his client’s case, deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov.
