The handmade «Tatarka» tiles laid on the Khan’s Palace roofs in Bakhchisaray are replaced by a stylized Spanish fake. The work on tiling a new roof began on April 8, 2018.

The former head of the ARC Committee on interethnic relations and deported citizens, Edem Dudakov wrote on Facebook.

«Thousands of shades palette, handmade tile «Tatarka» is sacrificed to this dull monotony (tiles from Spain – «15 minutes»). Simply because it is easier to tile, because there are no specialists working with “Tatarka” style, because it is easier to loot, because it is important for the vandalism organizers the process itself and flossing, rather than a result,» he wrote.

The cottage tile «Tatarka» will be replaced by the Spanish one, which is manufactured in factories, non-handmade. Thus, the occupants are changing the technology of tiling the roof at the Khan’s Palace and destroying the Crimean Tatar cultural heritage item.

Earlier it was reported from Crimea that the historical tile, taken from the Khan’s mosque roof, had already been sold.

We remind you, to help preserving the Khan’s Palace you can sign an appeal to UNESCO to protect the mosque. This appeal was initiated by the first deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars, Nariman Dzhelyal, and the Russian lawyer, Nikolay Polozov.

«Anyone can download it, print out and collect the signatures, and then pass on to any national movement activist you know, and he will have already passed it to us, and thus we pass it directly to the addressee. More signatures we collect, more chances to stop the destruction and preserving our common historical heritage,» the Mejlis deputy chairman said.
