Activists ask to sign a petition demanding to begin negotiations on releasing the Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia, as well as to impose sanctions against those people who are responsible for their persecution.

The petition was launched after announcement of Oleg Sentsov’s hunger strike who was condemned in the Russian Federation for 20 years in a colony.

«Now it is very important that Ukraine and Russia begin negotiations on the political prisoners. Right now, we need to get together and make them talk. And I do not know who else to ask for help, thus we appeal to the diplomatic missions in Ukraine and Russia. What if we show how many of us are waiting for our relatives, friends and compatriots, so things will go more actively? Please, help to save Oleg Sentsov, help to release the Ukrainian political prisoners,» the flashmob initiator Yana Goncharova wrote on Facebook.

You can sign the petition hereby following the link.

Earlier, the Ukrainian political prisoner, film director Oleg Sentsov announced his indefinite hunger strike demanding to release all the Ukrainian political prisoners held in the Russian Federation.

In occupied Crimea the Ukrainian political prisoner, Vladimir Balukh, announced his indefinite hunger strike on March 19, 2018, demanding to cancel his illegal imprisonment for 3 years and 5 months in the colony-settlement and as a protest against the Crimean occupation.

As you know, in May 2014 in Crimea the Russian special services detained the Ukrainian film director Oleg Sentsov, the activist Alexander Kolchenko and several other Ukrainians.

In August 2015, the Russian court found Oleg Sentsov and Alexander Kolchenko guilty of creating a terrorist organization in Crimea, carrying out two terrorist attacks and preparing another one, and also in an attempt to acquire explosive devices and illegal storage of weapons. Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in prison and Kolchenko is to 10 years in prison.
