It is posted on the official website of the Great Britain government on Wednesday, August 31, the appeal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain Embassy to Ukraine concerning the forced psychiatric confinement of the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov.

The informational newsblog «15 minutes» posts on the original appeal text.

«The detention and treatment of the Deputy Chairman of Mejlis of the Crimea Tatar People, Ilmi Umerov, is a cause of deep concern. Umerov’s forced detention and examination in a psychiatric unit, along with reports of his deteriorating health are disturbing. We call on the Russian authorities to respect international human rights standards; to release Umerov without delay; and to allow him access to the medical care that he needs.

It is clear that human rights standards are not being met in Crimea and we continue to call on the Russian Federation to allow immediate, unfettered access to all international human rights monitoring bodies. We do not, and will not, recognize Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea. Russia must return Crimea to Ukraine».

To remind some facts, the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov’s family posted on the appeal to the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers, and the representatives of the Ukrainian and international human rights organizations. It was translated into several languages including English, German, Crimean Tatar and Polish. Umerov’s spouse and his children request to ramp up pressure to the Russian Federation to release immediately the Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov.
