Ilmi Umerov addresses: The world must know about the ongoing repressive crackdowns by the occupation authorities in Crimea!
The deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Ilmi Umerov placed to the psychiatric clinic in Simferopol to pass the forced medical evaluation under the illegal decision of self-called court, the day before rally on his support planned on September 3, has addressed to.
The newsblog «15 minutes» posts the whole appeal hereby.
Friends, countrymen, co-thinkers and just caring people!
You all know what a difficult and contradictory situation people got in the occupied Crimea including me.
Only at first glance it may seem that remaining faithful to Ukraine, the democratic principles and own conscience the Crimean citizens should make an easy choice between right and wrong, loyalty and betrayal, fear and the need to resist evil, security of own family and personal achievement. Meanwhile the authorities are making any effort to suppress dissent and civil resistance during the occupation; the boundaries between these concepts become blurred.
I think I was lucky to make the right choice although I was subjected to criminal persecution by the Russian state because of that. However it gives me the strength of the fact that dozens of my fellow citizens and compatriots made a similar choice.
I’m supported by my family, colleagues, friends and acquaintances, and many other people in Ukraine and around the world.
And I certainly want to thank you all for that tremendous support that I feel even being here, under the psychiatric clinic hatches.
Thank you for your kind words and for actions, demanding my release, for your response and being indifferent to my case.
Despite attempts to isolate me, my family and friends pass me all your wishes and greetings. Thank you for being worried and concerned about me. It gives an extra motivation to bear up and more!
At the same time, however I call to you to talk about other Crimean political prisoners, those brave people who are sentenced at the predetention centres from several months to more than two years ... people who do not betray their conscience and the truth, the people refused to barter for a lie and slander obtaining the desired freedom.
The world must know about the ongoing repressive crackdowns by the occupation authorities in Crimea!
And even if in the coming future I will be able to leave the walls of psychiatric clinic, I ask you not to cease for a moment your support for all victims of repression in Crimea.
I appeal to you to come out on September 3, at the rallies on support of the political prisoners around the world, each of you in own city. And talk about it as loudly as the whole world will hear and the topic of occupation and repressions in Crimea will be definitely sounded at the G20 summit in China. Russia must not get away with what it is doing regarding to Ukraine and Crimea.
