Dzhemilev: The only strong sanctions from the West will force Putin to negotiate about Crimea
Sanctions against Russia should be strengthened as long as the aggressor country will not withdraw from the occupied territories.
Leader of the Crimean Tatar people, Mustafa Dzhemilev expressed an idea at the Forum Series Supporting the people of Ukraine Confronting Putin and building the Future in Washington, D.C. To his mind the only strong sanctions from the West are able to «force Putin to negotiate about Crimea».
He noted the fact of strengthening the sanctions from the United States had proved an evidence of supporting Ukraine in asserting its own way, independence and sovereignty.
Thus according to the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, the IMF (International Monetary Fund) decision on allocating extra funds is a failure of the Kremlin’s intensions.
In addition, Mustafa Dzhemilev underlined the necessity of creating an international platform for discussion and solving the issue about de-occupation of Crimea. He reminded that it isn’t spoken out the topic about peninsula’s withdrawing in the Minsk agreements.
