The Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, an MP Refat Chubarov considers that the General Prosecutor Office of Ukraine should bring to justice the MP Andrey Artemenko for his position on Crimea revealed to the President of the United States, Donald Trump.

«I am confident that the vast majority of my colleagues, MPs of Ukraine, about a lifting the parliamentary immunity of the MP Andrey Artemenko would be a strong indication of the present position of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a single legislative body of Ukraine on issues of territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Ukrainian state», Chubarov posted on Facebook.

According to him, Artemenko’s actions aimed to harm the Ukrainian sovereignty should be immediately classified as treason.

«In terms of the long-lasting Russian occupation of Crimea characterized by a total violation of the rights and freedoms of the Crimean Tatar people and human rights in Crimea, abduction and killings of civilians, numerous arrests and house checks and attacks the Crimean Tatars’ families, the persecution of Ukrainian journalists, Andrey Artemenko’s action is definitely to be determined the criminal act as a treason that is deliberately committed by the Ukrainian citizen to harm its sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, defense capability and  state, economic and information security of Ukraine», Chubarov said.

To remind some facts, the day before «The New York Times» newspaper published an article stating that the MP Andrey Artemenko handed a former adviser to the US president Donald Trump, Michael Flynn, the so-called plan of normalization the relations between Russia and Ukraine for the lifting of sanctions and suggesting a referendum about Crimea’s leasing to Russia for 50 or 100 years.

Artemenko does not hide his intentions and has even said that he wills to present them at a press conference in Washington in March.
