The chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, MP of Ukraine, Refat Chubarov said that the current sanctions against Russia are insufficient to force the Russian Federation to come back to an international law area.

He told journalists about it on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada.

«Today’s sanctions against Russia are working, but they are not enough to force Russia to come back to an international law area because energy sources embargo to the Russian production, for example, oil, should also be imposed. Also the Russian banking system should be cut off from Swift», Chubarov said.

Chubarov also added that Putin would negotiate only if he felt an even greater threat to himself than the threat to free Crimea today.

«Putin can’t leave the Crimea because that is not only political, but possibly physical death for him. That’s why, I emphasize once again that there must be even greater threat. Its biggest threat is the collapse of Russia. West has to force Russia to leave Crimea facing the threat of having even greater threats for them», Chubarov concluded.
