The political prisoner, deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Akhtem Chiygoz was allowed to communicate with his incurably ill mother for only 10 minutes.

The deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Ilmi Umerov wrote on Facebok.

“Lots and lots of people due to their joint efforts took part in the “persuasion” of the Russian authorities in need to provide conditions for Akhtem Chiygoz to visit his seriously ill mother. THANKS EVERYBODY!!! Accompanied by an enormous number of “civilians”, Akhtem was brought home for 10 minutes to see his mother. Of course, they could not talk just cried. Before leaving, Akhtem was not allowed to wash his face, so left in tears. (Akhtem's sister told about it speaking on the phone)”, Umerov wrote.

As the newsblog “15 minutes” informed earlier, the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz was allowed to see his seriously ill mother Alie on Tuesday, June 20.

To remind some facts, on June 7 the Supreme Court forbade Akhtem Chiygoz at a hearing on case of “February 26” to see his incurably ill mother. Later, the political prisoner’s lawyer again moved for Chiygoz to visit his sick mother.

Being refused further, the political prisoner’s lawyer Nikolay Polozov appealed to the Ukrainian authorities, human rights activists and journalists with a request to speak up this issue at various venues.

On June 15, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry demanded Chiygoz be admitted to his mother.

Chiygoz's lawyer also stated about a serious violation of both the Russian legislation and international norms by the Crimean authorities in view of ban on meeting Chiygoz and his mother.
