Lawyer: Crimean Tatar man Emir-Usein Kuku is forbidden the visits with relatives in pretrial custody
The political prisoner and figurant in case «Hizb ut-Tahrir», Emir-Usein Kuku has never received any permission to visit relatives during his stay in the pretrial custody.
Kuku’s lawyer, Aleksey Ladin told about it.
Political prisoner’s wife, Meriem Kuku wrote in the requests many times asking for a meeting with him.
«In his written refusals the FSS investigator Makhnev S.V. refers to Art. 18 of the Federal Law from July 15, 1995 No. 103-FZ «on the detainees’ detention in custody and accused people of committing crimes», but does not indicate the specific reason for his refusal», human rights activists from the Crimean human rights group noted.
Lawyer Ladin said that Kuku’s defense intended to file a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights.
«If earlier the family could see him in snatches in the court session, but now the hearings were held in closed mode. The defense plans to appeal it first within the judicial system of the Russian Federation, and then systematize and then file a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights», he said.
As the website «15 minutes» reported earlier, on June 23, 2017, the so-called Supreme Court of Crimea again denied the Crimean Tatar’s defense in satisfying the petition against his arrest extension. Emir-Usein Kuku was kept in the pretrial custody until August 8.
To remind some facts, human rights activists had previously stated that the Kuku’s family had been persecuted to intimidate Emir-Usein who was sentenced.
In particular, human rights activists reported about the situation when the so-called FSS officer tried to intimidate the nine-year-old Emir-Usein’s son, Bekir, at school. He assured the child that his father would be «rotted in prison» if he did not «cooperate». However, instead of investigating and punishing the FSS officer, the so-called Crimean authorities accused Emir-Usein, who was sentenced into pretrial custody, in non-protecting his son from «contacting outsiders».
To remind some facts, the famous human rights activist from Yalta, Emir-Usein Kuku was arrested after a house checks on February 12, 2016. He was accused of having ties with Hizb ut-Tahrir organization that is banned in Russia.
A non-governmental human rights organization, Front Line Defender urged a request to release political prisoner Emir-Usein Kuku and stop reprisals against his family.
