The deputy head of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars, Ilmi Umerov being accused by the invaders in separatism and awaiting his verdict told that no one wouldn’t break him down, and he would continue his fight even from prison.

He wrote it on Facebook.

The news website «15 minutes» quotes Umerov's full statement:

«On September 11, 2017, they delivered a verdict to Akhtem Chiygoz concerning «February 26’s case» which overshadowed by its degree of cynicism and disregard for the norms of law and justice in the broadest sense compared to the court decisions over Crimean Tatars during the Soviet era. It is easy to observe a cruelty in a verdict toward Akhtem Chiygoz and the Kremlin’s line to a final suppression of the Crimean Tatars' desire to have their national statehood and realization of their rights as indigenous people of Crimea. What should I expect for myself holding a criminal responsibility only because of someone’s political put-up job?

No one has any doubts that my case is completely fabricated by security services aiming to intimidate my compatriots and to show them a treatment they would experience if becoming a target of repression.

Courts turned out of justice and law services into a persecution instrument and a fighting tool against politically unsuitable citizens in Crimea.

Ahead the last meetings and sentences I am eager to state that I will not be afraid of your persecution, I will continue my struggle against repression even from prison, no matter as much I would stay there.

Crimean Tatars’ FREEDOM is not someone's gift, but is the most important thing in our national nature, suffered by a long history and an uneasy fate. None of your «verdicts» will take our FREEDOM from us!

Ilmi Umerov
