Lawyer: Pneumonia progresses at Bekir Degermendzhi in the pretrial detention center
Bekir Degermendzhi’s health, the figurant in Vedzhie Kashka’s case, worsens in the pretrial detention center.
Lawyer Edem Semedlyaev reported on March 27, 2018.
According to him, the Crimean Tatar needs qualified medical assistance.
«Bekir Degermendzhi’s health raises serious concerns. To my deep regret, there develops pneumonia. He needs qualified medical assistance, which is impossible in the dungeons of the pretrial detention center. We repeatedly voice and appeal this problem, though the situation remains unchanged», Semedlyaev wrote on Facebook.
The lawyer has also highlighted that another Kashka’s case figurant, Kyazim Ametov’s sight is declining in the pretrial detention center.
«I remind that he suffers from high blood pressure, and recently his vision has sharply declined. Unfortunately, when choosing preventive measures, courts do not take into account these important aspects», the lawyer stressed out.
Today, lawyers Edem Semedlyaev and Emil Kurbedinov also visited arrested earlier the civil journalist Nariman Memedeminov and Memet Belyalov, the Hizb ut-Tahrir case figurant.
In January 2018, Bekir Degermendzhi’s defense received a medical certificate, which indicated about the impossibility to detain the political prisoner in a remand prison because of his health state. Court did not take into account this certificate and left the Crimean Tatar under arrest. As it’s known, Bekir Degermendzhi has a bronchial asthma and he is a disabled person of the third group. He must periodically undergo medical examinations and take medicine. At night on December 14, 2017 Degermendzhi was taken from the pre-trial detention center to the intensive care unit. The man had pulmonary edema, and his condition was assessed as severe.
