Russia publishes textbooks «Crimean Tatar language as foreign»
Russia publishes for Crimean schoolchildren the textbooks «Crimean Tatar language» indicating in parentheses the mother tongue status as «non-native».
The Crimean Tatar’s Mejlis deputy head Ilmi Umerov posted a photo of a book on Facebook.
«Well, Maskva (ed.— Moscow), you do it! Things are getting worse and worse,» he subscribed the photo below.
As ATR reported, these textbooks are published by the Prosveshchenie Moscow publishing house.
It should note that a non-native language is the language that a person learns after studying own native one. So, Crimean Tatar language but not Russian is native for Crimean Tatars.
Despite this fact, the occupants distribute these textbooks throughout Crimean schools and allow Crimean Tatar schoolchildren to learn their native language as a foreign one.
