Remembrance Day participants were summoned to police in Crimea
Crimean Tatars, who came to the deportation victims’ monument and laid flowers on it on May 18, on the Day of Remembrance for the victims of Crimean Tatar Genocide, are summoned for questioning to the police office in Dzhankoy.
The first deputy chairman of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars, Nariman Dzhelyalov announced on Facebook.
«A month later, the Crimean authorities decided to punish Crimean Tatars for showing their sorrow and laying flowers at the monument of Crimean Tatar genocide. It’s powerless. It’s with people. In Dzhankoy five national movement activists are summoned to the police office and give explanations about laying flowers on May 18, 2017», he wrote. Dzhelyalov considers that Crimean Tatars are faced a fine for «unauthorized action».
«According to available information, the police will refer cases to the court and most likely it will award five activists fines for an unauthorized event. The fact is that on May 18 Crimean Tatars from Dzhankoy honored the memory of the deceased in deportation relatives and compatriots ... without the authorities. It is remarkable that such independent rallies took place in all regions in Crimea, but exactly Dzhankoy law enforcement officers decided to differ ... a month later», he said.
As the website «15 minutes» reported, several Crimean Tatars in Crimea were fined 10 thousand Russian rubles supposedly for participating in the rally on May 18.
As it is known, on May 18 there passed in Crimea the mass detentions of Crimean Tatars, who gathered to pay the tribute to the deportation victims. Some detainees were immediately released, and others were drawn up the administrative protocol.
To remind some facts, in Crimea the occupation authorities forbade Crimean Tatars to gather on the Day of Remembrance for the victims of Crimean Tatar Genocide and to honor the memory of deceased Crimean Tatars during the deportation on May 18, 1944.
Earlier in Crimea the first deputy chairman of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars, Nariman Dzhelyalov told that any actions on the Remembrance Day from his side or other activists, who were received warnings, could be esteemed as a violation.
The same situation the day before May 18 in Crimea was observed over the past years. Some Mejlis members reported about «warnings concerning the inadmissibility of violating the Russian Federation law».
All the notifications about holding the mourning events on the Remembrance Day, submitted to the city administrations by non-governmental structures, were not agreed upon.
