First son, later on his father: there organized fundraising in support of the Degermendzhis family

Human rights activists and activists from the #LetMyPeopleGo campaign launched an urgent fundraising for the Degermendzhi family in the occupied Crimea, who were twice subjected to unlawful Russian persecution.

«It is a story about one Crimean family who needs urgent help. In May 2015, Mustafa Dedermendzhi was detained in Crimea. He is accused of case “February 26” and is now under a house arrest. On November 23, 2017 his father Bekir Degermendzhi was detained as well. Despite the fact that Bekir-aga is suffering from bronchial asthma, he will stay in the pretrial detention center for the next two months. Family which for years paid for legal assistance for its son has temporarily remained without father», it is said in a report.

Earlier, on November 23, 2017 in Crimea the FSS of the Russian Federation together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained Kyazim Ametov, Asan Chapukh, Ruslan Trubach, Kurtseit Abdullayev and Bekir Degermendzhi in Simferopol. Bekir-aga is Mustafa Degermendzhi’s father, and his son is the figurant in case «February 26» and now under a house arrest. The rest of detainees were arrested for two months. Lawyers intend to appeal such a court decision.

As it is known, Mustafa Degermendzhi and Ali Asanov are figurants in the so-called case «February 26» in Crimea, who are «passed judgment» on participation in the rally on February 26, 2014 under the walls of the Supreme Council of Crimea in support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Earlier, on October 25, 2017 all charges were withdrawn from the chief figurant in «February 26» case, the deputy chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Akhtem Chiygoz, who was convicted for 8 years imprisonment. He was released from «criminal liability».
